Classics and My Passion
My name is Millie. I am a Year 11 student at Leicester Grammar School, currently studying for my GCSEs which include Latin, Ancient Greek, and Classical Civilisation — subjects I pursue not out of obligation, but out of a genuine and deep-rooted love for the ancient world.
About This Site
Et Cetera Antiqua is a curated portfolio of my written work in Latin, Ancient Greek, and Classical Civilisation. It brings together essays, translations, and commentary written throughout my time at school, and will grow as I continue my studies.
My interest in Classics spans the full breadth of the ancient world — from the poetry of Virgil and Homer to the histories of Tacitus and Thucydides, from Greek tragedy to Roman philosophy. I am drawn to the way these texts reward close reading and reveal something enduring about human experience.
Outside the classroom, I have attended the competitive Latin Camp programme — a selective residential course for students with a serious commitment to the classical languages — and I am looking forward to returning in 2026. This site forms part of my broader application to read Classics at university.
